Sheriff Tim Wilz had attended their annual Shop with a Cop event. While at this event, he posed in a group photograph with other officers, deputies, dispatchers, jailers, etc. In the picture, he directly mocked Justin by re-enacting last year’s photograph with me in it. He wore the same exact things, positioned himself between the same two deputies, and posed the same way I had.

I later spoke with several Sheriff’s Office members who were in the photo, who later admitted that they knew the Sheriff had done this on purpose and that they felt they couldn’t stop it from occurring because they didn’t want to get fired.

It is also noted that in every other Shop with a Cop event leading up to this - Mr. Wilz doesn’t wear a Santa hat or dress up with a necklace. Every year that I have participated - I have dressed up for the kiddos. The point of this is to make the kiddos feel more comfortable, festive, and higher spirits when they are shopping with us, especially families who have struggled the past year.
