Law Enforcement Instructor
I have always wanted to be that officer that others looked up to for advice - that they would come to with questions. I have always wanted to help teach the very thing that I had prepared and worked so hard toward in my life - to be a good police officer.
Well, in 2021 I earned my certificate in “instructor development” - which meant I was able to instruct basic law enforcement classes. Since I had such a passion and knowledge in OWI and drug enforcement, I wanted to go one step further and become an instructor in that specific category. So, I then earned my certificate in being able to teach field sobriety and ARIDE (ARIDE is an acronym for Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement; it bridges the gap between the lay officer and a DRE).
Since then, I have taught several classes including officers from all over Waupaca County and officers from other parts of Wisconsin. I have taught drug identification courses to all of our rural ambulance services in Waupaca County. I have also put on several presentations about the negative effects of impaired driving to several different groups, including driver’s education classes and at-risk juvenile facilities.
Teaching and passing down my knowledge and experiences to other officers - to make them better at their jobs - is a deep passion of mine. I don’t know why but it fills my cup completely up. I love seeing officers succeed in doing what I have dreamt my whole entire life of doing.
